In my opinion, wordle is a web 2,0 product that can be described only as a passing trend. There was a time right around fourth grade that I distinctly remember as the age of wordle. Teachers loved it. Every single group project was intertwined with wordle in some way or another. Among the most ludicrous was a report on Louis and clark and the Louisiana Purchase based entirely off of a wordle (just think about that for a moment.) Then they realized. Wordle does nothing more than group words together. Something with no use at all. Something that people had been able to accomplish for years before Wordle made its way onto the forefront of web 2.0 products. This being said, Wordle does do an excellent job at what it does. The finished product does, admittedly, look excellent. This aside, there are some additional drawbacks to wordle other than the aforementioned uselessness. For instance, The user has to put in each word again and again as opposed to simply choosing which words they want to be larger and which should be smaller. Wordle does provide its users with an excellent variety of themes. color choices and formats, which help to vary its fields of usefulness. All-in-all, while perhaps not useful to some users, wordle does do a superb job at what it does, managing to look great and be somewhat functional at the same time
